Justice Wargrave - He was a judge. He remember Dr. Armstrong when he was a witness at a trial. Way to go, Peter. You've remembered some good descriptions of each character. I especially like the way you describe Philip Lombard when you say he is "nice on the outside, but evil inside".

ASSIGNMENT #1
Before reading Chapter 1, consider the following:
how does a mystery novel differ from a narrative?
A mystery keeps you guessing and narrative is fiction or non-fiction.
how might the title be a clue to the story?
The title might be a clue that in the end of the there will be none.
Assignment: Add a new page. Create a link from your page to the student pages. On your new page, answer the two questions above in one solid paragraph. In the second paragraph, make one prediction - something that you think might happen or something that you might expect about a character in the story.
foreshadowing
1. p.22 Vera said, surprised: "its a long way out." She had pictured Indian Island differently, close to shore, crowned with a beautiful white house.
2. p.28,29 What a white bloodless ghost of a women!
3.p.30 Vera ''I expect so'' Mrs. Rogers turned to go.
4.p.33 ''All the same, this evening, I'll imagine to myself that I'm not going back-that I've done with London and Harley Street and all the rest of it.''
Good start, Peter. You have picked out some examples suggesting future events might not be so good for the characters.
